Jason Ross

Dr. Jason Ross, Lloyd L. Anderson Endowed Professor in Physiology, is the chair of the Department of Animal Science at Iowa State University. Prior to his appointment, Ross served as the department's associate chair for industry engagement and was director of the Iowa Pork Industry Center and the Animal Gene Transfer Facility.   

His research focuses on biotechnology applications to improve animal reproductive efficiency and develop strategies to control novel physiological mechanisms. During his time at ISU, Ross has helped acquire more than $20 million in funding for research. While serving as the department's associate chair, he worked to promote the department's programming at the local and global levels and worked to gain insights from stakeholders that could inform the department's decisions. 

Ross received a B.S. in Animal Science from Iowa State University before completing a Masters and Ph.D. at Oklahoma State University. His Ph.D. was focused on reproductive physiology with a minor in biochemistry. Prior to joining Iowa State in 2008, Ross served as a postdoctoral research scientist at the University of Missouri, Columbia.
